‘Talking Tom and Friends’ feat. Colin Hanks Greenlit for Season 2
London-based entertainment company Outfit7 has greenlit a second season of its animated digital series “Talking Tom and Friends.”
Since the show’s first season premiered online in April 2015, it has had over 820 million views on YouTube and the YouTube Kids app. The new season, featuring 52 eleven-minute episodes, will premiere in 2017.
The returning voice cast includes Colin Hanks (“Fargo”) as Tom and Tom Kenny (“SpongeBob SquarePants”) as Hank, along with YouTube star Lisa Schwartz (“Party Girl”), James Adomian (“Comedy Bang Bang!,” “Gravity Falls”) and Maria Bamford (“Lady Dynamite,” “WordGirl”). Head writer Tom Martin (“The Simpsons,” “WordGirl”) also returns for the second season of the show, created and produced by Outfit7 and Austrian animation studio Arx Anima.
Outfit7 was founded in 2009 by its CEO, Samo Login, who previously worked for the Slovenian search portal Najdi.si. It launched “Talking Tom and Friends” as an app in 2010, then spun it off into a multi-platform franchise that has included multiple apps and games (with 4.7 billion downloads and 270 million active users), a global licensing and merchandising program and the CGI animated series.
