A digital creative studio with offices in San Francisco and Los Angeles, Portal A is best known for the annual “Rewind” videos it makes with YouTube. The company has also crafted branded videos for clients such as Uber, Universal Pictures, Microsoft, Lenovo, NBCUniversal, Banana Republic, Benefit Cosmetics, L’Oreal, Waze and Ubisoft, and produced two seasons of “White Collar Brawlers,” which made the jump from digital outlets to Esquire TV in the fall of 2013. Last year, it released “Game On,” a new gaming competition show for Google Play’s YouTube channel.
As the VP of Originals for Maker Studios, Woolley developed original content for more than 30 different series, including scripted, animated, documentaries, talk shows and digital programming. Earlier in his career, he served as an executive producer at Red Bull Media House and Yahoo Originals, and a producer at MTV.
Woolley has also served as creative director for Fog and Smog, the Berkeley, Ca.-based creative collective behind viral hits such as “Whole Food Parking Lot” and “Yoga Girl.”
Based out of Portal A’s Los Angeles office, Woolley will oversee the creation, development and sale of premium scripted and non-scripted projects for the company.
Portal A currently has a slate of over 30 projects in development, including “Song Voyage,” a six-episode comedy series following The Gregory Brothers as they tour six Asian countries — Australia, Mongolia, Japan, the Philippines, South Korea and Vietnam — learning about local culture and partnering with local musicians to create a unique music video.
