Here Media Launches OTT Platform With Encompass and Kaltura
Encompass Digital Media, a global technology services company, today announced they are providing an integrated set of services for Here Media the world’s largest provider of LGBTQ oriented content. Encompass will deliver complete managed services, while Kaltura will provide its video platform and applications for iOS and Android and apps for Roku, Apple TV and Amazon Fire.
Newsy and Verizon Cloud Video Unit Expand OTT Partnership
Verizon Digital Media Services, the cloud video unit of Verizon, has expanded a deal with Newsy that will allow publishers to weave in content from OTT-delivered news service that’s tailored for younger audiences.The new deal will make select video content from Newsy available to VDMS Uplynk Video Streaming services customers.

Tidal Announces new Original Series ‘Hip Hop Improv With Cipha Sounds’Tidal has announced an exclusive new original series from DJ and comedian Cipha Sounds, titled “Hip Hop Improv with Cipha Sounds.” The series is based on the real life stories of hip-hop celebrities and personalities and includes improvisational skits from Cipha Sounds and his team. The first episode, which features Black Thought, the lead Emcee of the Roots, is available now.
Wurl Snatches Up Former Maker Studios VP Of Product Mike Woods
Former VP of product management at Disney’s Maker Studios, Mike Woods, has found a new home at Wurl, a Silicon Valley company that distributes online-video channels to pay-TV operators and OTT Services. Starting May 1st, Woods will report directly to Sean Doherty, Wurl’s CEO and founder.
Snapchat Greenlights Dating Show Produced By Vertical Networks
Vertical Networks, Elisabeth Murdoch’s U.K.-based media company, is set to produce its first show for Snapchat. The two companies have greenlit production for “Phone Swap,” a 12-episode short-form dating show, which will launch via Snapchat’s Discover platform later in the year. Each episode is approximately 4 minutes long and consists of two strangers given unrestricted access to their blind dates’ cell phone before they meet.
Tribeca Film Festival To Live-Stream 12 Panels Free On Facebook
This year, The Tribeca Film Festival is bringing twelve live sessions to internet users via an exclusive pact with Facebook, This includes the much-anticipated cast reunion of “The Godfather” films. Internet users worldwide will also be able to watch the festival’s closing-night event on April 29, with a panel discussion about “The Godfather” & “The Godfather: Part II” with director Francis Ford Coppola & cast.
Amazon India Launches Animated ‘Baahubali: The Lost Legends’
Amazon Prime Video’s India service has taken on the animated series “Baahubali: The Lost Legends,” created by SS Rajamouli, Graphic India and Arka Mediaworks. The 2015 live-action blockbuster “Baahubali: The Beginning,” grossed around $100 million worldwide. Its sequel “Baahubali: The Conclusion” will premiere in London on April 27, followed by a global rollout on April 28.
