After four years of calling Amazon her home, Monique Meche has departed from the company to join Netflix as VP of global public policy. Meche will report to Netflix’s chief legal officer David Hyman, and will be responsible for leading the team that deals with public policy, regulatory, and governmental issues across 190 countries.
This isn’t Meche’s first time handling public policy, during her time at Amazon she was VP of international public policy and was responsible for managing all international public policy and governmental issues for the ecommerce giant. Prior to Amazon, Meche was VP of government affairs and corporate social responsibility at the steel and mining company ArcelorMittal, based in Luxembourg.
This hire is key to Netflix’s current growth strategy, which has put a strong focus on expanding past the boarders of the US. According to its latest earnings report, the company has garnered more than 52 million international subscribers (more than it holds in the US).
